Talal Al Kaissi and Abdulla Wasel, discuss artificial intelligence, space exploration and more.

Talal and Abdulla touched on a multitude of topics when discussing the synergy between artificial intelligence and space exploration. One of these topics being the advancement of artificial intelligence from the narrow era to the general era and subsequently, the artificial superintelligence era and what such developments would add to the already burgeoning space exploration era.

When discussing the development of an artificial intelligence with a human conscious, Talal and Abdulla spoke on the philosophical nature of the advancement and whether the hypothesis of existential risk was a possibility; such questions brought about the legal issues that arise with an artificial intelligence that enjoys a human conscious.

What sort of adaptations or extensions of legal systems and regulations would be required and who would enforce such regulations? The discussion culminated in Talal’s analysis of the current space investment scene – both in the UAE and on a global scale – and the directions the scene was taking. After all, the UAE’s investment in space and its space projects amounts to USD 6 billion: one can only imagine what the UAE has in store for the advancement of its space sector.

Talal Al Kaissi also answered relevant questions from the audience.

This Space Cafè UAE video, held on 15 February 2021, is moderated by Abdulla A. Wasel, Managing Associate of Wasel & Wasel, Secretary to the Board of Directors of The Hague Institute for Global Justice and Member of the Space Generation Advisory Council.
