Paradigm’s mission is to help as many people as possible by restoring their health, spirit, and hope for a brighter future. We focus our efforts on people dealing with some of the most challenging circumstances imaginable, and 2020 only amplified the difficulties faced by injured workers. From frontline staff to clinical leadership, the entire Paradigm team came together to improve the lives of the many people who were counting on us.
At the beginning of a new year, Paradigm is proud to look back on our work, including the initiatives, programs, and studies that reflect the passion and dedication of an exceptional workers’ compensation team. By keeping the focus firmly on the clients and injured workers we serve, Paradigm is proud to have positively impacted more than 20,000 people in 2020.
Moving forward through an unprecedented year
With the COVID-19 pandemic disrupting operations, Paradigm had to quickly adapt, shifting to remote work whenever possible and fundamentally changing protocols for on-site work. By rising to the occasion to deliver critical workers’ compensation help in this new environment, our team was still able to meet—and even exceed—many of our goals.
Key highlights for Paradigm in 2020:
A new independent study showing superior outcomes for Paradigm: The report, conducted by a leading actuarial firm, concluded that our outcome-focused care plans achieved 32% lifetime savings and a nearly six-times higher return-to-work rate compared to industry benchmarks.
Launched a partnership with behavioral health provider AiRCare: Behavioral health support is critical to the catastrophic cases we manage, which is why we partnered with an industry leader to manage the biopsychosocial aspects of risk-based catastrophic cases, and further strengthen our clinical team.
Created Paradigm Contagion CareSM for COVID-19: In a first for the workers’ compensation industry, Paradigm delivered a comprehensive pandemic response solution that won the 2020 Business Insurance Innovation Award. In July, our clinical experts also held an educational webinar that broke CEU attendance records.
Introduced our 24/7 COVID-19 nurse triage service: We developed this unique service, which fielded more than 3,000 calls, to provide clinical expertise, testing information, and recommendations for workers and their families during the pandemic.
Expanded Paradigm Specialty Networks: We grew our Specialty Networks by more than 55,000 providers nationwide, including a 40% increase in our orthopedic presence across 39 states.
Reduced surgical implant costs with Fusion by ParadigmSM: In a separate independent study, Paradigm’s cost containment solution and medical bill review process were shown to reduce costs 25 percentage points more than the typical industry outcomes.
Achieved record adjudication for surgical implant bills: Our workers’ compensation bill review team achieved an average total savings of 70% in implant cost management as they worked to adjudicate more bills than ever in 2020.
Received the Best and Brightest Companies to Work for in the Nation award: Paradigm was proud to receive this prestigious award in workplace excellence for the second year in a row.
