Mubadala’s STRATA shows manufacturing innovation and versatility during pandemic.

Very much enjoyed touring Mubadala’s STRATA with VP Julien Fabreguette and then meeting with CEO Ismail Ali Abdulla about an exciting collaboration with a US University.

STRATA pivoted part of their airplane parts manufacturing plant to COVID19 mask production when the pandemic hit. Versatility under pressure! Most impressive and more to come!

Established in 2009 at the Nibras Al-Ain Aerospace Park, Strata was formed to meet the demands of the evolving aerospace industry, and to become a strategic supplier to world-class aircraft manufacturers, such as Airbus, Boeing and Leonardo-Finmeccanica Aero-structures Division. The company has also established agreements with other tier one suppliers such as Pilatus, SAAB and S.A.B.C.A.

With its first production commencing in 2010, Strata combines cutting-edge technology, state-of-the-art manufacturing processes, an integrated supply chain, and a high-caliber workforce, to industrialize and manufacture and sub assemble major aircraft structures - such as wing movables and empennages - for the latest generation of commercial aircrafts.

In the last 10 years, Strata has delivered more than 4,000 shipsets consisting of more than 60,000 components that have been ‘Made with PRIDE in the UAE’ by a workforce from over 25 different nationalities – more than half of which are young and talented Emirati women.

In 2020, to support the UAE’s national efforts in fighting COVID-19, Strata collaborated with Honeywell to manufacture N95 respirators in its 31,500 square meter facility. With an annual production capacity of over 30 million masks (a rate of almost 1 mask per second), the UAE has transformed into a net exporter of this critical PPE product.

Strata is wholly owned by Mubadala Investment Company (Mubadala), the Abu Dhabi-based investment and development company and is part of the UAE Investments platform that aims to advance the development of a leading aerospace hub in Abu Dhabi.
