Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and Penn Medicine partner a Coronavirus Center for Research.

Updated: Apr 1, 2020

I hope this blog post finds you and your families well and safe as we adjust to the new normal of sheltering at home during this pandemic.  In moments of uncertainty like these, it is comforting to know we have friends across the world for whom we care and for whom we are collaborating.

We applaud your efforts to combat COVID-19 over the past month and credit your wise leadership for guiding the way.  As you know, the United States shares in this struggle and is working with global healthcare workers, scientists, administrators, governmental leaders and the community to ramp up for the coming peak.

I am really proud of the round-the-clock work of the University of Pennsylvania's (Penn Medicine) and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. These two global healthcare leaders are working to help adults and children throughout the world. It is an honor to work with them, and I am sending you some good news and new information that may be of help to you, your family and others in this difficult time.

The big news is that Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and Penn Medicine have founded the Center for Research on Coronavirus and Other Emerging Pathogens

This newly-developed research center will help expand and accelerate research for Coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2 and other emerging pathogens, and provide a centralized information repository on research developments and guidelines.
