A team of researchers led by Penn Medicine were recently awarded a $3.2 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to explore the use of artificial intelligence (AI)-driven analysis to determine the likelihood of cardiac patients accepting or rejecting a new heart. “Unfortunately, the number of patients with end-stage heart failure is increasing. But research like this is another step in the right direction for improving survival and quality of life for heart failure patients,” said Kenneth B. Margulies, MD, principal investigator and a professor of Cardiovascular Medicine.
